A Family Farm

Our family has farmed in this area for the last three generations and we moved to Hill Barn Farm in 1994. A lot has changed in that time and it's surprising just how much the landscape has evolved in those 30 years. Woodland and hedges have grown up and matured but the places where we played and trees we climbed as kids are still there. I am now lucky enough to be able to watch my children playing in the same fields that I did as a child. We hope that by opening up the Beechwood Trail others will be able to enjoy some of these same experiences with their families.

Alongside lavender we grow other crops including wheat, barley, beans and linseed. We harvest these after the lavender fields have closed. There is never a quiet time on a farm, there is work to do all year round. A lot of time is also spent maintaining Cotswold stone walls, hedges and planting trees.

We started growing lavender in ‘99 as a small diversification. From a few hundred that were planted out on hands and knees things have now grown to almost 70 acres of lavender, with oils and our lavender range sold throughout the UK and around the world.

In that time others have joined us to help as the business has grown, but family farm values are still at our core
